Oriana & Cammy

Newburgh Priory | April 2022

Covid delays, a swift venue change and a whole wedding re-think? Not many could take this task on. These two absolute superstars not only managed it, but totally smashed it!

With just over a year until Oriana & Cammy’s big day the venue hunt had to start all over again, when they received the anxiety-inducing news that their original venue was closing for weddings. With many places booked up for their original date this wasn't plain sailing!

In little over a month Oriana & Cammy set to work planning their, now, dry-hire wedding at the historical grade I listed building; Newburgh Priory. A picturesque, originally tudor building set in acres of beautiful Yorkshire countryside.

Going from a wedding venue with an in-house events coordinator to a dry hire venue is no small feat!

After all of the trials, tribulations and delays Oriana treated herself to some spectacular vintage jewellery that couldn’t have gone any better with her forest green velvet shoes and wonderful bouquet by Vintage Essence.

After the ceremony everyone filed into one of the grand, stately rooms in the priory itself. We were spoilt rotten with the beautiful and dramatic lighting! We could have continued to film in there all day.

The sun shone all afternoon, enough for everyone to forget the snowy downpour in the morning! There were lawn games, bagpipes, kilts as far as the eye could see, SO MUCH CONFETTI and a cèilidh.* We heard heart-felt readings, a gorgeous ceremony and brilliant speeches. The whole day was romantic, fun and perfect for Oriana & Cammy.

We had lots of fun of working alongside photographer, Tora Baker. She's lush and even though she told us it was her last ever wedding, we're hoping she can be coaxed back so we can work with her again one day!

Charlotte’s favourite moment from this film: Oriana taking a deep breath to compose herself as she’s about to walk down the aisle in that beautifully grand room, taking it all in, the moment before she’s about to marry the love of her life.

Craig’s favourite moment from this film: Just after Oriana sets the scene of the Cammy’s proposal to her, Cammy reads out the exact words he spoke to Oriana while he was down on one knee.

*pronounced kay-lee. It’s a traditional Scottish or Irish (spelled céili) gathering, nowadays, particularly when at weddings, it involves a live band playing music and a person who explains how to do set dances to the music (they are called ‘the caller’). It’s untold fun and brilliant to get people on the dancefloor; mingling with each other. We WHOLE HEARTEDLY support anyone booking a ceilidh for their wedding, it’s the BEST.
