Dominique & Mike
Autumn 2024 | Thicket Priory
From New York to ‘old’ York, Dominique & Mike’s international celebrations were held at the magnificent Thicket Priory. Watch their full wedding film and read all about their day below.

For us things started off with a story telling shoot in the city of York where we were lucky enough to hear where it all began for these two love birds! We love hearing our couples' love stories, it's always an honour when it happens. We choose a bench just outside Yorkshire Museum in the museum gardens as the location, it was a lovely calm spot away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Then it was time to venture into the hustle and bustle! We had a little wonder along to the historic Shambles for some portraits, amongst all the tourists and history buffs.
It wasn't long until Dominique & Mike were back in the UK and the big day itself was upon us. At the glorious Thicket Priory the sun was shining as guests were exploring in the morning and the dreamy floral displays were being set up. Thicket Priory is perfect for guests to have a wonder of the grounds, they can choose to walk over to the swing or walk all the around the lake. Either way guests can immerse themselves in the calming surroundings before the celebrations begin! We loved the rich colour scheme which went so perfectly with the venue. The most beautiful September light shone on the long tables getting set up for dinner. The elegant simplicity was dreamy!
Dominique & Mike wore beautiful tradition Vietnamese dress during the heartfelt ceremony which was held in The Morning Room. We got to see a Vietnamese tea ceremony for the first time! This is a tradition in which a couple show their respect to their elders and it also serves as a symbol of the two families coming together. It was so amazing to witness!
We headed out briefly for some portraits with the two of them in their traditional outfits before they both got changed for dinner. We heard some incredible speeches, a particular highlight for us was when the mother of the bride said about her incredible daughter "most importantly you are YOU" - it made everyone emotional!
We always keep our eyes on the sky to look out for light that's *just right* and as soon as we spotted it we whisked the newly weds out to the front of the building for some more portraits in their second outfits. We had to take advantage of that gorgeous light. The sun sets at the front of the building at Thicket Priory and we LOVED the way the long drive looked with that autumnal sunshine as Dominique & Mike got a few moments to soak in that just married feeling.
It was time to head back inside to the spectacular hall for the cutting of the cake. The cake was a masterpiece of sugar work! It was covered in exquisite sugar flowers that were impossible to differentiate from their real counterparts.
Dominique & Mike took to the dancefloor for their first dance where they were showered with confetti cannons (the BEST kind of first dance!) to mark the start the evening reception where guests danced the night away on a jam-packed dance floor! We loved every second of this transatlantic culture mash up of a wedding held at the magnificent Thicket Priory.

The light all day was gorgeous, but this shot of the ceremony just as the ceremony is about to start is dreamy!

The light on Dominique as she was finishing getting ready - she was all lit up from the sunshine and it highlighted the intricate details of her beautiful traditional Vietnamese dress.
